  Whales are the best.

   

  They are so majestic.

   

   

  This Winter we went out whale watching.

  I had never done it before.

   

  We got on the excursion boat, and the captain

  oriented us to the rules of the sea.  That was

  mainly what we were allowed to do on the deck

  and not do, and also where the latrines were

  located down these steep stairs.  he also went

  over some pretty strict rules about alcohol–

  these were of course unnecessary for us since

  we don’t drink.

   

  Then we headed out to sea.  I had taken dramanine

  but that was because I was anticipating something

  rougher than it was, and also because in the past

  being on a boat of any kind has not agreed with me.

   

  The water was calm. 

   

  The sun was setting.

   

  It was glorious.

   

  Then we got to where we were going offshore

  and the boat just sat.

   

  Slowly we started to see whales coming up

  to the surface. It was so magical.

   

  I wish I had taken pictures.  I had my digital

  camera but was so in the moment that I

  didn’t take any photos.

   

  Then the whales started to spout.  Wow.

  First a baby did it, and then the parent.

  Wow!  This wasn’t on TV or in a movie.

  We were watching it in real life.

   

  From now on it is my intention to do 

  whatever I can to save this clan of

  animals.  They are just spectacular

  and deserve our friendship.
